Bible readings at funerals. How to find the most suitable.

What to Say at My Nans Funeral

There are many verses and passages in the bible that can be read at the funeral. The purpose of  Bible reading at funerals is to comfort the family and the friends of the deceased. There is a great commitment to reading bible verse by the ministers of God at the funeral, this is not for the deceased alone but they believe they can convert the non-religious folks to Christians and change their ways to the ways of God, Christ Jesus. There are Bible readings for funerals in both the old and the new testaments of the bible.

Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep

There is a belief by some Christians that when the deceased is prayed for, he or she would be able to make heaven and God will be lenient with the person in the passing of the judgment.

Bible readings at funerals from the old testaments

There are many verses in the old testaments that are mostly and often used by the ministers at funerals. The bible talks about death destruction in Isaiah 25:7-9, and he will destroy on this mountain the covering of the face that is cast over the heads of all peoples and the veil that is woven and spread over all nations went on to verse 8 saying ‘ he will swallow up death in victory, he will abolish death forever. And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces and the reproach of his people will take away from off all the earth for the Lord has spoken’ to verse 9 where it emphasized on what the Lord said saying ‘it shall be said in that day, behold our God upon whom we have waited and hoped, that he might save us! This is the lord, we have waited for him; we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation’.

The bible passage stated above was talking about the coming and purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ in New Testaments. How Jesus would come and destroy death and wipe away all sadness and reproach from the face of the children of God.

Other Bible verses in the bible are stated below.

Bible readings at funerals from the old testaments

Just like the old testaments, the new testaments have a lot of bible verses backing up what has been said in the old testament about death. In 1 Corinthian 15:51-57, these bible verses especially verse 54 of it talked proved and showed that what was said in the book of Isaiah in the old testament was true. It said the death was swallowed up in and unto victory. Then verse 55 of it said ‘o death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ the meaning of sting was seen in verse 56 saying ‘now sin is the sting of death, and sin exercises its power upon the soul through the abuse of the law.

Following the death of my Mother, I decided to make this website. I found it difficult at the time to express the correct words to say at the service. However, I stumbled across an immediate download (available here) that enabled me to find truly memorable words.
