Poems in Memory of My Dad — A Collection That Will Make Anyone Tear Up

Before you opt for the free and most popular Poems In Memory Of My Dad you just have to read through this article.

When I first found out my father was gone, I couldn’t breathe. My lungs started shrinking, and it felt like my heart was about to stop beating. after blanking out for a while, I came to a horrible realization that my dad was no longer going to be in my life. He will never get to see me get married or watch my children, his grandchildren, grow.

People’s emotional response to losing someone they love is always pretty much the same. There’s always hatred, anger, depression, and guilt. The suffering is immense, and nothing can help alleviate it. Everyone goes through the same — only the intensity and order of these negative emotions are relative.

Aside from having to deal with the avalanche of emotions that shook my whole being to the core, I also had to plan a funeral, write a eulogy, and be there for other members of my family. They were going through the same thing I was. Therefore, I had to be strong, pick myself up, and help them during this awful period.

Still, whenever I sat down and tried to write a eulogy, I’d start crying and losing my mind. Luckily, there was something that helped me, since I couldn’t do it all alone. I came across a download called “Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep”, a collection of beautiful, different and unique funeral poems, and it basically changed the course of my recovery.

But more on that later. First, I’d like to share a few crucial pieces of advice that might help you deal with your tragedy.

Do Not Despair

Staying in your bed all day and thinking about what you could have done to prevent all this is not going to do you any good. In fact, it will only damage you and prolong your recovery. If you don’t do something about them, negative emotions will only pile up and lead to bigger problems. Depression is by far the most common side effect, but other, more severe illnesses can occur, too.

You have to deal with your emotions, even if you don’t feel like doing so. Talk it out with your friends, family, or even a therapist. Write in your journal every day and express your deepest emotions there. You can also read books and poems that talk about death and all the feelings that come with it if you’re not much of a writer or poet. At least that’s what helped me. Reading poems in memory of my dad was heartbreaking, but it woke me up and made me realize that I had a life to get back to.

You Are Not Alone

Remember — you are not the only one who is going through this. Approximately 151,600 people die every day. And if we take into account how many loved ones are affected by each and every death, we get a much greater number. So, it’s safe to say that a big chunk of the world’s population is going through the same thing as you, every minute and every day. I find that quite comforting, to be honest.

Some of the world’s best poets and writers dealt with the same melancholy, and some of their best work came from their mourning phase. These people were true artists, and they knew how to verbalize perfectly what they were feeling. Thus, reading poems about their losses and tragedies can actually help you deal with your own.

Before I read the download  “Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep”, I was terrorized by my own emotions, helpless and unaware of the world outside of my head. After reading a few poems in memory of my dad, I was already starting to feel better.

Just knowing that someone shares the same feelings can be comforting. It made me hopeful about the future. It even inspired me to write my own poems in memory of my dad!

Now let’s see what this book is all about.

400;”>Inner peace is not something that you can achieve easily. It’s hard to find it, but when you do, bliss will arise from the sea of insecurity and despair. The worst thing you could do is lose yourself in sorrow and self-pity. Your family and friends count on you to be strong in the face of tragedy. Thus, some of these poems will help you hold your ground and face the fears that haunt you. They may even provide the insight necessary to help others go through the loss.

Holding on to the bliss and not drowning in despair is what Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep is meant to help you with. Words have a profound effect on our soul, and these carefully selected ones can help you find the closure you were looking for.

A Beautiful Collection of Funeral Poems in Memory of My Dad

No novel, story, or limerick will ever have the same impact a poem has. Poetry is the language of love and the voice of sorrow. Every line is a story in itself; each word painstakingly chosen to have the strongest emotional impact on the reader.

Poets are able to see the world in its extremes. Their words speak to each and every one of us. Thus, we share the poets’ pain when we read their work. On the other hand, they share their pain with the world when they write.

The emotional symbiosis between the world and the poet is not something that should be taken lightly. That’s why there’s so much poetry in Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep. A collection of deeply emotional poems as thoughtfully assembled as this one surely gave me an excellent choice of poems in memory of my dad.

I found many beautiful thoughts just barely flipping through the book. More importantly, I managed to put my pain into words. It stopped being a shapeless cloud of darkness all around me. Instead, it buried itself deep in my heart before it eventually went away.

Why Everyone Needs Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep

Writing Your Father’s Eulogy

Finding the right words to express what you’re feeling can be quite a challenge, especially when you’re feeling down.

When my father passed away and the time came to write his eulogy, I was struggling. My father was the best man I knew, and I wanted his eulogy to be perfect. I wanted the eulogy to do him justice. However, as someone who didn’t have any experience in writing, I couldn’t think of anything to say. If it weren’t for Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep, I would have stood there in front of all my friends and family and cried the whole time. And I think most people feel this way too.

That being said — I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Reading poems in memory of my dad helped me channel my emotions through words without having to come up with them myself.

Getting Through the Tragedy

Death of a loved one is never easy, especially if this is your first time dealing with such a thing. We could never get used to feeling horrible, even if something bad happens to us every day. Getting over a tragedy is insanely difficult. It takes a lot of strength and effort. And most of the time, we can’t do it alone, no matter how hard we try.

Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep is a great reading material. Not only does it contain touching poems but it also has plenty of famous people’s stories and experiences revolving around death. You can identify with the writer, learn from their experience, and apply it to your own case.

Finding Inner Peace

In order to get over your father’s death and move on, you have to process all the information. You see, emotions don’t just come and go. They linger within us and wait to be attended to. If you don’t face them, they might stay inside forever and cause you deep pain later in life. Actually, plenty of psychological issues stem from hidden emotions.

So, don’t hide them. Let them out. Cry. Scream, if you need to.

I’m going, to be honest — Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep made me cry many times, and I’m not ashamed of it. I wept over those poems in memory of my dad. Yet, if that hadn’t been the case, I would have probably kept everything inside and eventually went crazy.

To sum up, don’t ignore your feelings. Give them the opportunity to come out. They will pass eventually, and then you will be able to find your inner peace and grow mentally.
